Discovering Authentic Indonesian Flavors at Omahe Mbah Giyo, Surabaya. Indonesia is renowned for its diverse and vibrant culinary heritage, and exploring local eateries is one of the best ways to experience this richness. Last week, my friends and I visited Omahe Mbah Giyo, a traditional Indonesian restaurant located at Jl. Gubeng Kertajaya I Raya No.15, Surabaya. Our group was excited to try authentic dishes that showcase the unique flavors of Nusantara cuisine. For my meal, I chose Dori Sambal Matah, a dish that perfectly represents the fusion of fresh ingredients and bold spices in Indonesian cooking. Dori, a type of white fish, is fried to a golden crisp and topped with sambal matah—a raw Balinese chili relish made from shallots, lemongrass, lime leaves, and chilies.
